Easy Pork Chop Recipe


 
 

Cinnamon Apple Pork Chops

 
Baked pork chops stuffed with bread cubes, apple, cheddar, raisins, and cinnamon. Ths warm sweet taste of cinnamon with apples is perfect for a fall or winter evening. This simple recipe can easily be doubled to cook for a larger party.
 
Ingredients -
 
1 1/2 cups Dry Bread Cubes
1 tablespoon Butter
1/2 cup chopped Granny Smith Applea
1/3 cup grated Mild Cheddar Cheese
2 tablespoons Raisins
1/4 teaspoon Ground Cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon Coarse Salt
4 (3/4 inch thick) Pork Chops
Coarse Salt
Fresh Ground Black Pepper
 
Preparation:
 
1. Preheat oven to 350 F.

2. Toast 2 slices of bread. Cut the bread into ½” cubes. Measure 1-½ cups. Set aside.

3. In a small saucepan, sauté the apple in butter until tender. Remove from heat. Add cheese to apples.

4. Add raisins, orange zest, cinnamon and ¼ teaspoon salt.

5. Add toasted bread cubes.

6. Cut pockets in pork chops.

7. Stuff pork chops with an equal amount of stuffing mixture. Reserve any stuffing mixture that does not fit. Use toothpicks to secure edges.

8. Season pork chops with coarse salt and fresh ground black pepper.

9. Place pork chops on a lightly greased or non-stick baking sheet. Cover pork chops with foil. Press foil around edges of baking sheet to trap steam.

10. Bake 45 minutes. Remove foil. Bake 5 more minutes.

Cinnamon
Cinnamon can be found as cinnamon sticks and ground cinnamon. The ground cinnamon has a stronger flavor. Cinnamon should be checked for freshness. Store cinnamon in an airtight container in a cool, dry, dark, place.

You can substitute your favorite apple for the Granny Smith Apples in this recipe. Other apples that hold up well during the baking process include Cortland, Golden Delicious, Cameo, Jonathan, Rome, and Jonagold.
